What is NITS (Network Integration Transmission Service) and what does it mean to me?

NITS is a charge passed down from the electricity grid operator in Ohio, PJM, to individual electricity utilities. In January of 2018, PJM announced an increase in this charge. The rate increase is account specific and will affect all customers in Ohio. In neighboring states such as Illinois and Pennsylvania, the increase is passed down to electricity suppliers rather than the utilities. Customers in those states that have shopped their electricity with competitive suppliers may see an additional charge on their bill. The charge is included in fixed priced products; however, the suppliers have the right to pass down any NITS cost updates to their customers. Although some suppliers will pass the costs down to consumers, others will choose to absorb it. If you have any questions, please contact info@ceateam.com.
